Swimmers of the Month (April, 2010)

Apr 5, 2010

Congratulations to our swimmers of the month:   Joe Sassi & Graeme Lee-Rowlands!

Joe Sassi, is a Stingray Green Group who first joined PST last Fall. He's been working hard and making superb improvements. Joe recently swam in his first swim meet at the Montclair Pentathlon where he swam the 50 free and 50 back. In the pool Joe is a great swimmer to coach, he is very attentive and definitley tries his best. Joe also clearly enjoys his time in the water and has a wonderful attitude. He's all smiles in the pool and we look forward to continued success from Joe. Congratulations Joe keep up the great work!

Graeme Lee-Rowlands , is a Pre-Senior swimmer who also competes for the Piedmont High School Swim Team. Graeme is back in full swing after a brief hiatus and his time in the pool is paying off. Graeme had a break out meet at the Alameda Last Chance Meet. He competed in eight events and had seven personal best times. He narowly missed making Junior Olympics in the 400 IM by a mere four tenths of a second. The next day of he had his sights set on a JO time and it came in the 200 butterfly. He squeeked in  and qualified for the meet by one one hudreth of a second. Last weekend he swam in his first Junior Olympic meet with one event to swim. He made the most of it and had a fantastic race. He led the heat from the first 25 and never looked back. At the 100 mark he had already clocked his best 100 time. He held on to finish first in his heat and earned his first ever Far Western time. It was an exciting race that inspired all who were on hand to watch. It was a priceless moment of pure joy when he walked over to the coaches smiling from ear to ear. He was overjoyed to earn his first Far Western time and stoked when he was rewarded his Far Western Team cap! Looking forward to more from Graeme in the weeks to come! Congrats Graeme and good luck in your race at Far Westerns!!!
