Swim Groups  

The Piedmont Swim Team offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the our team is to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

Stingray Group
The beginner level group, ages 6-12. 45 minute practices with the main emphasis on stroke mechanics and fun.  The Stringray group is divided into two sub-groups:  the Green group and the Blue group.  Coaches recommend 2 practices weekly for the Green group and 2-3 practices weekly for the Blue group.

Junior Group
Ages 9-14, with 75 minute practices. Swimmers hone the skills learned in Stingrays. They are encouraged to swim in meets, gain competitive experience, set goals, and, most importantly have fun. We have split the group into Junior 1 & Junior 2.  The Junior 1 group is made up of swimmers new to the group who should focus on attending 3-5 workouts a week in the afternoon or Saturday morning. The Junior 2 group are swimmers who have more experience in the Junior group. In addition to the afternoon expectations, the Junior 2 group workouts will include Tuesday and/or Thursday morning workouts.  The wednesday afternoon workout is for all Juniors swimmers and is strongly encouraged. On Wednesday the Junior group has a bit more room in the water and an opportunity to do some dry land work as well as some important team bonding activities.

Pre-Senior
Group
From the Silver group, athletes move into this group. Athletes in this group are usually at least 10 years old and have completed the Silver Group move-up skills list. This group is exposed to training for the first time while trying to prepare for the 200 Freestyle and 200 Individual Medley races. Competing at swim meets is highly encouraged at a rate of about once per month.

Senior
Group
The highest level of swimming on PST. Ages 14-18, with workouts of 90-120 minutes in length. Our training program is designed to give the swimmer the opportunity to compete at the highest levels of swimming. Recommended 9 workouts weekly.

High School Fitness
Ages 14-18. Designed for the swimmer who wants to keep swimming for fitness goals or participation at the High School level. Fitness swimmers may swim up to 5 workouts weekly with the Pre-Senior/Senior Team.
